Lineage

The Vazhuvoor
tradition

Anandha Natyasthala teaches in the Vazhuvoor bani — rooted in the tradition of Kalaimamai S.K. Rajarathnam Pillai — known for its rhythmic clarity, expressive depth, and architectural elegance. Students train under Sumithra Sudhakar, who has trained for over eighteen years under Kalai Choodamani Smt. Sasmitta K. Aroraa of Shankkaram School of Art.

The teaching emphasises adavu foundations, abhinaya, and performance readiness — building confident, grounded dancers at every stage.
